Make The Leap Into Writing Persona Poems W/ Mimi Plevin Foust says
Do you want to write poems that help you stand out from the pack, tell stories, build your imagination, and create social change? Writing persona poems – poems in another’s voice – can do all that and more. In this fun, interactive workshop, we’ll discover and practice this underused but highly effective poetic strategy. You’ll also learn how to perform these poems aloud, with the chance to share them at a Lit Cleveland event soon after. Come with notebook or paper, a pen you love, and your imagination. Beginners to experienced poets are all welcome.

Mimi Plevin-Foust has written and published persona poems, screenplays and articles in numerous journals including Forge, Fourteen Hills, LearnVest/Forbes.com, POZ Magazine, Sanskrit Literary-Arts Magazine, SCRIPT, Spoon River Poetry Review, Stickman Review, Willow Review and more. Over her career, she has been a poet, glass artist, screenwriter and filmmaker with an M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing from NYU. She was a 2016 Fellow in the Cleveland Jewish Arts & Culture Lab.

Writing Persona Poems takes place Thursdays 2/16 & 2/23 from 7-9p at Loganberry Books ($30 / $ 25 members).
