Editor's note: This guide, compiled in 2026, lists the best comedy venues in Delhi, Noida and Gurugram, including stand-up comedy clubs, performance spaces, intimate studios and smaller underground venues. The list is curated by Time Out editors based on the quality and variety of comedy on offer, with a focus on venues that regularly host stand-up shows and emerging and established comedians.

Delhi may arguably be the king of comedy in India. It’s got the makings of exactly THAT kind of city: brash humour, quick-as-you-please insults, a tangle of communities from across the country that just can’t stop poking fun at each other. It makes for a vaguely delightful kind of inelegance that’s played a big role in churning out some of the topic comics in India today.

Once upon a time, there were only two or three clubs that’d host standup night. Now, Delhi’s crawling with them – so are Gurugram and Noida – and not all are created equal. This guide sorts the sorted from the sordid, from underground rooms to tiny studios. Take a look, book a ticket, and laugh your head off.

Also, it's worth checking out Time Out's weekly events calendar to see which comedian's swinging with a special this week.

This one’s the OG spot and has a loyal community of comedy-heads. Open to both A-listers and beginners, comics perform under red-blue lights on a cosy stage. Shows happen almost daily, with seating for about a hundred or so people. Incredible comics have performed here – their pictures in the Hall of Fame outside the club are testament. It’s got two outlets – one in Gurugram and another in Dwarka – but I’d say the Gurugram one is more happening.

While this is more a theatre space than a typical comedy club setting, Akshara ends up hosting a fair number of top-tier comics frequently. It’s a snug place located smack dab in the middle of the city. It’s become somewhat of a go-to venue for improv and comic plays too – which means you’ll spot a lot of different formats and styles that you wouldn’t typically find at a more comedy-focused space.

Time Out tip: Hosts here are wary of latecomers.

Punchliners

Punchliners are a Delhi-based collective that host a wide range of artists across different locations in the city – cafés, bars, eateries, amphitheatres, even your own backyard, if you ask. The roving setup makes it super accessible to get ahold of the best comics through the year at fun locations. They’ve got about a decade in the comedy business under their belt and are pretty well renowned through the city.

Happy High

Equal parts comedy club and bar, Happy High sports a simple brick wall, a stool, a mic, and a stage that’s sized just right. You can catch it in full glory over the weekend – through the weekday, it operates as a lowkey bar. The club doesn’t multitask or bother with different formats. It’s meant for plain and simple standup, and you’ve got a good chance of catching the most organic experience here. It’s also quite an intimate space, with seating enough for just about 70 folks.

The Comedy Theatre

Located in Gurugram, this comedy club’s a new kid on the block, but has hosted some of the biggest names in the business: Biswa Kalyan, Gaurav Kapoor, Samay Raina, Aakash Gupta, need I go on? The venue hosts housefull events through the week, with some shows running as late as 1am. The cool thing about this place is that it’s also got a recording room which you can rent at prices that won’t burn a hole in your pocket. It’s also got a habit of surprising audiences with a lineup of surprise star comic acts.

Laughter Nation

One of the best things about Laughter Nation is where it’s located – the buzzing neighbourhood of Hauz Khas – and it’s a big reason behind why it’s stayed so popular. Besides hosting the more famous comics, it’s also known for giving opportunities to budding comedians. The club, with a seating capacity for about 90 people,  doubles as a space for frequent live gigs and open mics – and will arrange private shows on request. It hosts about seven or eight back-to-back shows on weekends.
