Spread Art says
Please join us for brunch at Spread Art and hear from three artists in residence Walter Lacy (Detroit), Carrie Rudd (New York), and Andre Uhl (Berlin) about their process, practice and what they plan to be working on during their residencies.

Walter Lacy is an interdisciplinary literary and performing artist, with a sincere love for Detroit. Influenced by hip-hop acts such as Nas and Black thought, poet Amir Sulaiman, and revolutionary leader/orator Malcolm X, his work often confronts issues of racism, class disparities, and war. His project will explore the aesthetics of hip-hop culture, via poetry, music, and visual art.

Carrie Rudd's paintings are sensory brews. Working at the intersection of figuration and abstraction, they are subjective representations of both objective experiences and psychological phenomena.

André Uhl is a musician and futurist born in Essen and based in Berlin. He holds a master’sdegree in futures research, a fact that reflects in his compositions and leaves traces in his sound. André merges noise and synthesizer lines converging them into dark, driving and cinematic pieces of music. His production process is a continuous exploration of methods to combine detailed and spatial audio design with simple, yet haunting melodies. During his time at Spread Art André will create a new live show. His debut album will be released in November 2017.
