The Detroit Bus Company says
DETROIT HAS ALWAYS BEEN A CITY OF MAKERS, INVENTORS, DOERS AND DREAMERS.

Now it’s our locally made brews and booze putting the Motor City on the map. Hop on one of our hand-painted buses for an exclusive tour of three badass breweries and distilleries. We’ll get you behind-the-scenes so you can see exactly how the beloved sauce is made.

We paired up with our friends at the Detroit Free Press to make this happen. Their brilliant beer writer Robert Allen will lead you behind the bar and inside the production facilities of Atwater Brewery, Batch Brewery and Detroit City Distillery. Chat with their experts and sample what’s new on tap. You do the drinking, we’ll handle the driving.

STOP 1: BATCH BREWING
What started as a tiny little “nanobrewery” by some friends looking to up the variety of beer locally one batch at a time has grown into a pillar of the beer and nachos community. Founded by Stephen Roginson and friends, Batch is equal parts community gathering spot and mad laboratory where wonderful concoctions meet happy drinkers.

STOP 2: DETROIT CITY DISTILLERY
Hidden back in a narrow alley behind anonymous food trucking companies hides a little distillery with a big soul. DCD was the vision of a handful of friends who realized Detroit wasn’t just lacking a proper distillery, it needed a good cocktail or ten, as well. You’ll see the inner workings of spirits production and get the lowdown on how the whole thing works.

STOP 3: ATWATER BREWERY
If you’re not already familiar with Atwater we’d be astounded. Located just off the Detroit River, the Atwater Brewery is a nationally-acclaimed powerhouse of flavor. If you had visited their former Detroit Tap Room underneath the giant vats, you’re in for a surprise. Atwater is now serving beers in a totally upgraded, swanky new tap room. Plus you’ll get to meet the brains behind their booming operation.

THE DETAILS:
-We’ll meet at Foran’s Grand Trunk Pub, 612 Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit. There is plenty of street and garage parking nearby, plus Grand Trunk has a tasty food menu for fueling up. Be there by 6:30pm because nobody wants to miss the bus.
-You’ll pay for your own drinks at each stop. That way its not built into the ticket and you’re only drinking what you want, when you want. Every establishment takes credit and cash.
-These aren’t your ordinary buses. Nah, we’re talking hand-painted refurbished vehicles running on 100% local biofuel. It’s easy being green!
-This tour qualifies for our Ride for Ride program. Every ticket sold buys a Detroit kid a safe ride to their local school or program. Do good by having fun… that’s a win-win for all.
