St Kevin's Park

St Kevin's Park review Rate it

Formerly the graveyard to the ivystrangled relic of a church at its centre, this beguiling little park is almost always empty. Rumour has it that the area is haunted by the restless souls of the displaced band whose gravestones have been pushed to the side of the now neatly tended lawns - although, judging by the pious life stories told in the several plaques and memorials that are scattered around the place, it's hard to imagine any of this lot as the chainrattling type. In fact, it's such a peaceful setting (a sensation heightened by the proximity of towering office blocks and busy roads) that St Kevin's can be one of the most relaxing places in Dublin to immerse yourself in a book or simply sit on a bench and enjoy the murmur of bees and twitter of birdsong.
