Motorists should expect delays on 30 June, due to a planned protest march from around 9am until shortly after midday.

Holidaymakers and Durban residents are being advised to factor in a planned protest march on the morning of Tuesday, 30 June, particularly if they’re heading towards the city centre.
While authorities have sent assurances that the situation is under control, delays in and around key inner-city routes are expected. Police in KZN say they are fully prepared to manage the march and any associated gatherings, with a strong visible presence planned across Durban and identified hotspots.
Speaking to Time Out Durban, Durban Metro Police spokesperson Colonel Booysie Zungu confirmed that while the final endpoint is still being finalised, the march is expected to begin on King Dinuzulu Road, before proceeding along Dr Pixley KaSeme Street (West Street) towards Durban City Hall. If the march does not conclude there, it is expected to continue to the SAPS Point Police Station on Prince Street.
“We would advise motorists who do not want to be delayed to avoid that area on Tuesday morning,” said Col Zungu, who noted the march will start around 9am, with it likely concluding just after midday.
Police management, together with eThekwini Metro Police, say coordination efforts are in place to ensure everyone’s safety.
Major General Makoba stated, “We will engage the Metro, and our commitment is that law enforcement will ensure safety and security. We will protect those who march and act against any individuals with ill intentions.”
Metro Police will be deployed alongside SAPS across the city, including major transport routes, business districts and surrounding areas, to maintain order and respond rapidly to any incidents.
Authorities have appealed for calm and cooperation, with a strong focus on keeping both marchers and road users safe during this - and the busy holiday travel period.
