Durban continues to cement its status as a leading fashion destination as the search officially begins for the next faces of the prestigious Durban Fashion Fair (DFF), celebrating its 15th year in 2026.

eThekwini Municipality has launched its highly anticipated 2026 DFF Model Scouting Roadshows, allowing aspiring models to step onto one of Africa’s leading fashion platforms and potentially kickstart a major career in the industry.

Chairperson of the City’s Economic Development and Planning Committee, Councillor Thembo Ntuli: “Through these roadshows, we are taking opportunities directly to communities and ensuring that undiscovered talent is given a platform to shine. We call on all aspiring models to attend and seize this opportunity.”

Benefits for aspiring models

From 16 May to 6 June, scouting sessions will take place at key locations across Durban. Successful applicants will be selected for an intensive two-month training programme focused on:

  • Runway skills
  • Model etiquette
  • Professionalism
  • Industry readiness
  • Fashion and commercial exposure

Many previous DFF participants have gone on to work with major brands, appear in national campaigns, and walk international runways. Former beneficiary Cynthia Gumede said the programme transformed her confidence and opened doors to collaborations with leading designers and brands, including Tropika.

Who can audition?

 To enter, applicants must:

  • Be between 18 and 35 years old
  • Be at least 1.75m tall (female applicants)
  • Be at least 1.84m tall (male applicants)
