A morning market, affordable art, live music, and a proper pamper… if you’re planning to spoil mom this Mother’s Day, Durban has more than a few feel-good options lined up.

Feel-mood morning at Glenwood Village

Head to Glenwood Village Market on Saturday, 9 May, from 9am to 2pm for a relaxed, community-driven celebration for shopping and a little indulgence.

The monthly market is going full Mother’s Day mode, with stalls packed with thoughtful gifts, including:

  • Handmade soaps
  • Bath treats
  • Artisan jewellery
  • Vintage fashion
  • Healing crystals
  • Fresh produce
  • Handcrafted décor
  • Books
  • Leather goods
  • Beadwork
  • Perfumes
  • Coffee
  • Baked treats

Alongside the market, an Affordable Art Show will showcase locally made pieces. This is the kind of meaningful gift that lasts longer than flowers. It’s also a great chance to support Durban’s creative talent while letting mom pick something she truly loves.

There’s also a mini Pamper Parlour offering quick neck and shoulder massages. This is perfect for unwinding mid-morning while listening to Ilze Oosthuizen on the piano.

Celebrate at The Pavilion

If you’re planning a full Mother’s Day itinerary, make a stop at The Pavilion Shopping Centre on Sunday, 10 May. The centre is hosting two free live performances by the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra, taking place at 11am and 1pm in the Fountain Court. Look forward to a beautiful, hour-long programme conducted by Chad Hendricks.

There’s also a thoughtful charity initiative running from 7 to 10 May, where shoppers who spend R250 or more can have their gifts wrapped at a special station (located outside Woolworths). All proceeds go to St Martin’s Diocesan Homes for Children, supporting vulnerable children in the Glenwood community.
