Some Sundays are made for staying in. Others are made for Liquideep in the Park. This weekend, it’s the latter!
The South African house favourites will take over Chris Saunders Park this Sunday (6 September) for an open-air afternoon celebrating the music that made them household names.
You can look forward to some familiar anthems and a few nostalgic singalongs in a perfect Sunday setting, with DJs and supporting acts keeping things moving from midday.

From Johannesburg to the world
Liquideep's story began in Johannesburg in 2006, when American-born Ziyon (Jonathan Hamilton) and Alexandra-born Ryzor (Thabo Shokgolo) met through a mutual friend.
The pair brought different musical backgrounds to the partnership. Ziyon's influences included gospel and soul, while Ryzor had grown up immersed in Johannesburg's house scene and had been collecting deep-house vinyl for years.
They quickly began teaching each other – Ziyon learning to DJ and Ryzor learning production – and by 2007, Liquideep was born.
Their debut album, Oscillations, arrived in 2009, introducing audiences to their melodic take on deep house. The single Fairytale became an early favourite and earned a South African Music Award (SAMA) nomination for Song of the Year.
Then came Fabrics of the Heart in 2010. The album went multi-platinum, while Liquideep picked up Album of the Year and Duo/Group of the Year at the SAMAs. Tracks including Alone, BBM and Something About You became staples of South African nightlife.

Then came the silence
Liquideep parted ways in 2014, with Ziyon continuing his career as a solo artist while Ryzor remained involved in music away from the spotlight.
For more than a decade, fans continued to ask the same question: would Liquideep ever return?
The answer finally came in September 2025, when the duo announced their reunion with the simple message: "We missed you too."
Their return to the stage saw them perform together in South Africa for the first time since 2014, with subsequent shows including Mayonie Open Air Festival and a sold-out Cabo Beach Club performance in Cape Town.
Now, Durban gets its turn.
A Sunday in the park
Alongside Liquideep, supporting acts and DJs will set the mood from midday, while food vendors and fully stocked bars will keep the crowd fuelled.
It’s going to be house anthems, coastal air, sunset selfies, and a little Afro-chic fashion.
Whether you're a long-time Liquideep fan who still knows every word to Alone or you're discovering the duo for the first time, this is a chance to hear one of South Africa's most recognisable house acts live.
