South Africa's best skateboarders will be in Ballito this weekend for an adrenaline-fuelled showdown at the iconic Ballito Bowl.

There’s lots on in Durban this weekend, but the O'Neill Ballito Pro Skate Jam cannot be missed!
On Saturday, 11 July, South Africa’s top skateboarders are going to battle it out for the top title at the Ballito Bowl. Forming part of the Ballito Pro Presented by O'Neill, the annual Skate Jam has become one of the festival's biggest crowd-pullers, bringing elite skaters to the region.
This year's event is headlined by South African Olympian Brandon Valjalo, who returns after claiming the coveted Best Trick title at last year's competition.
With R30 000 in prize money up for grabs across the Groms and Open divisions, spectators can expect huge airs, technical tricks and plenty of high-speed action throughout the afternoon.
"There's something special about the Ballito Pro Skate Jam," says organiser Markus Müseler from OSP Events Co. "Every year the bowl fills up with skaters from all over the country, and it feels more like a reunion than a contest. Everyone pushes each other – it's all about good times while the level of skating just keeps progressing, and that's what skateboarding is all about."
The Ballito Bowl is considered one of the country’s top skateboarding venues thanks to its steep transitions and fast lines that reward creativity and commitment.
This year, the bowl has had a major facelift through the Spark Up the Park – Skate Bowl Rehabilitation Initiative, supported by RE/MAX Dolphin Coast, SJC Projects, Linc College, Elogen, KwaDukuza Municipality, Maraschino, Skull Candy, Checkers, Rise Up Foundation and several local businesses.

O'Neill Brand Director Paul Canning says the Skate Jam perfectly captures the spirit of the Ballito Pro.
"Walking up from Willard Beach after watching a couple of surfing heats, there's always this incredible buzz around the bowl. The Skate Jam reflects everything the Ballito Pro stands for – community, youth culture, action sports and an unbeatable atmosphere. With Brandon Valjalo returning alongside South Africa's best skaters, spectators can expect an unforgettable afternoon."
The Skate Jam is just one highlight of the Ballito Pro Presented by O'Neill, which runs until 18 July. Visitors can also enjoy:
