Winter on the KZN South Coast just got even better.

One of the region's biggest music festivals, Oppi Kus Musiekfees, returns to the Douglas Mitchell Sports Ground in Uvongo on 10 and 11 July, bringing two days of live entertainment and family-friendly fun to the coast.

Hosted by Margate Round Table 46, the festival has grown into the largest music event in the region, attracting thousands of visitors every year. With warm winter weather, Blue Flag beaches, and the annual Sardine Run currently taking place offshore, it's the perfect excuse to plan a coastal getaway.

The event is also family-friendly, with a supervised children's play area available, and free soft drinks included in the children's tickets.

Festival-goers can expect performances from some of South Africa's biggest music stars, including:

  • Bok van Blerk
  • Saxby Twins
  • Demi Lee Moore
  • Riaan Benade
  • Bernice West
  • Bobby van Jaarsveld
  • Ross Learmonth
  • Adam Tas
  • Die Jakkie Louw Band
  • Daniel Wesley

… alongside popular local favourites such as Shaun Wulf, The Gentry, Winston Smile, Shakira Biggs and DJ Louis.

There will be great food, drinks and music at this year's Oppi Kus Music Festival.

And while you're in the area, don't miss the chance to experience one of nature's greatest spectacles. The annual Sardine Run is currently underway along the KZN South Coast, with dolphins, sharks, whales and seabirds following millions of sardines as they migrate along the coastline.

You could even spot humpback whales breaching offshore from one of the region's many scenic beaches and viewpoints.
