Forget the usual trails and waterfalls, this is your chance to step into a world of dazzling and hidden treasures that sprout right beneath our feet.

The Dargle Conservancy is hosting a guided mushroom walk led by fungi fundi Mark Henstock, who is excited to share the secrets of this mysterious kingdom.

All proceeds go directly to the Dargle Conservancy’s environmental and community education projects, so your morning in the woods is also doing good for the planet.

Fungi Walk Details

Why mushrooms?

The world of fungi is weirder and more wonderful than you think. Globally, scientists estimate there are around five million species, and roughly 1,000 occur in South Africa alone.

Mushrooms come in neon colours, star-shapes, coral-like formations, and fairy-tale domes. Some are edible delicacies, some are medicinal powerhouses… and some are best left alone!

Misidentification can be dangerous, which is exactly why guided walks like this one are such a safe and enriching way to explore the fungi kingdom.
