If there’s one thing that truly marks the start of summer on the KZN North Coast, it’s the arrival of litchi season. There’s no better way to get into the festive spirit than spending a day picking plump, juicy litchis straight off the tree. The beloved Litchi Harvest in Ballito is back from 16 to 30 December 2025, inviting families and fruit fanatics to dive into one of the region’s most iconic holiday traditions.
Located just 500m from Flag Animal Farm, the Litchi Harvest is the original and best-loved litchi picking experience in KZN. Every summer, the orchards burst to life, offering visitors a chance to wander through rows of ripe, ruby-red litchis at their sweetest.
Pick, Eat, Repeat
The fun is simple: pick your own, feast on as many as you like off the trees for free, and choose your take-home bucket size:
- R130 per person (includes 800g to take home)
- R180 per person (includes 1.6kg to take home)
- Kids under 3 enter FREE
You can arrive anytime between 8am and 3pm and stay as long as you like. The orchards close on 24 and 25 December, but every other day is yours to enjoy.
More Farmyard Fun
When you need a breather, climb aboard an open-air tractor ride through the litchi and macadamia orchards. There are plenty of on-site food vendors too (including Halaal-approved options), serving everything from cold drinks to sweet treats the kids will love.
If you're just stopping in to stock up, the Harvest Farm Stall sells 2kg bags of day-fresh premium litchis, which are perfect for braais, beach days, and festive season desserts.
