Candlelight

Among the many spaces that make up the hotel Hostal de la Gavina in S'Agaró, you'll find a sophisticated restaurant where the star is Mediterranean cuisine with notable French origins. It's not surprising to find this mixture, bearing in mind that the hotel has always been at the centre of the world of Spanish glamour and celebrity. Since it was inaugurated in 1932, its 80 exclusive rooms have played host to such illustrious names as Ernest Hemingway and Ava Gardner. Candlelight is only open in the evenings, and the diners are always accompanied by a pianist who performs live. Among the star dishes of chef Laurentino Costa you'll find the chateaubriand with souffle potatoes and Béarnaise sauce, oxtail tournedos, escalope of pan-fried foie gras with sweet wine sauce, and the crêpe suzette flambéed in Grand Marnier.
