El Roser 2 is a top-quality seafood restaurant in L'Escala, which also enjoys amazing views of the Bay of Roses.
As often happens with family restaurants, the Roser 2 is an excellent example of how enthusiasm and academic training of second or third generation family members can convert a traditional seafood restaurant into much more, via the paths of creativity and sophistication but without abandoning the restaurant's origins and devotion to quality, local ingredients.
El Roser 2, which is an emblem of L'Escala's culinary offer and is located close to the coast with privileged views of the Bay of Roses, has been run jointly by the brothers Jordi and Rafael Sabadí since 2005. Jordi is in charge of the kitchen, where he creates dishes based on seafood and Empordà specialities – they change with the seasons and are given modern, signature touches. Top ingredients are key to every dish, especially in the case of the fish and shellfish that, whenever possible, comes from the fishing boats of L'Escala and Roses. Rafael is in charge of the restaurant and, in particular, the wine cellar. He has put together an extensive, first-rate wine menu with over 600 items on it, which are an excellent showcase of the world's best wine-making regions, although the local DO Empordà varieties take a special pride of place.
