Balneari Vichy Catalán
Time Out says
Luxury spa with thermal waters in the heart of the beautiful La Selva region
The story of the Hotel Balneari Vichy Catalan starts back in 1883 when the waters from the Puig de les Ànimes spring, in Caldes de Malavella, were officially declared for public usage and later became commercialised under the name of 'Vichy Catalan'. Following this development, Doctor Modest Furest i Roca decided to build the Hotel Balneari in the town, which opened its doors in 1898. Nowadays the hotel has 86 bedrooms, a restaurant, outdoor swimming-pool, tennis court, kids' park, magnificent garden and, obviously, the famous thermal baths with their mineral waters (which come out of the ground at 60ºC). The centre offers a full range of services: water circuit (with hot tub, underwater jets, thermal water canons, chromotherapy, bithermal shower, bucket shower, footbath, Finnish sauna and hammam), steam inhalation of Vichy Catalan, Scottish shower (alternating hot and cold water), massages, facial treatments and much more. Comfort, peace and luxury in the heart of the verdant La Selva area.
