The 'living nativity' ('pessebre vivent') in Pals, which sees locals act out the Christmas story, goes far beyond its religious significance. It's the most important cultural event in the Baix Empordà during the festive period, as well as an ideal excuse to go to the town's craft market and see the representation of historical trades, such as ceramics and basket making. In addition, it's truly amazing to see a living nativity in one of Girona's best-preserved medieval towns. If you go, take note that you can buy your tickets for the nativity at the Casa de Cultura Ca la Pruna from 5.30pm.
