World Affairs Council of Houston says
Every photographer brings a unique perspective to their art form. They show us the world we are so familiar with in a new light. For Bob Gomel, former Life Magazine photographer, “Photography is all about having something to say before you pick the camera up to your eye and push the button. Are you happy about something, displeased about something? And if so, how are you going to express that on a piece of film?” Gomel’s work is dedicated to answering these questions, turning what seem like ordinary moments into extraordinary memories for his audience to share.

Prior to becoming a photographer for Life Magazine, Mr. Gomel served as a naval aviator during the Korean conflict. He has documented key moments of history involving Nixon, Kennedy, and various other members of government. He covered the Bay of Pigs operation, numerous political conventions, and several high-profile funerals, including those of John and Robert Kennedy. In addition to politics, Gomel’s work has featured iconic figures in sports, entertainment, literature, and law. His more recent work takes him across the globe, where he documents the people and lifestyles of local cultures from India, Nepal, Russia, Argentina, Israel, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Tibet, Thailand, Brazil, and Chile.
