Weathering the downturn in global growth, the Chinese economy has stabilized with the support of accommodative policies. However, restoring macroeconomic stability has come at the cost of delayed reforms. The government must deal with the challenges of industrial restructuring, and bank recapitalization more decisively to ensure long-term vitality of the country. Meanwhile, political events such as the Trump presidency and China’s upcoming 19th Party Congress will also have implications for its domestic economy.
