Please be our guest for the opening of Houston based artist Dan Havel.

Artist Dan Havel may be best known as a sculptor and creator of large-scale public art in his collaborations with artist Dean Ruck and Havel Ruck Projects. However, drawing has been a major part of his practice as an artist for over 30 years.

“Drawing Assumptions” includes work that reflects Havel’s long time interest in the physical and conceptual act of transformation through the drawing process.

Included in the show are an early collage assemblage work from 1985 that depicts the influence of Havel’s cartooning and illustration years, to the 1990’s that explore concepts of Alchemy, and finally more recent work that attempt to illustrate the physical and conceptual dismantling of architecture.

Dan Havel, along with Havel Ruck Projects, was named 2015 Art League Houston Texas Artists of the Year. Havel Ruck Projects will also be inducted into the Houston Artist Hall of Fame exhibition at the Houston Fine Art Fair this fall. Dan Havel’s work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally and is included in the collection at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and several private collections. An art educator at St. John’s School for over 20 years, Havel lives in Houston Heights with his family.

This exhibition was made possible by the generous support by a grant from the Houston Arts Alliance.

The exhibit is on display through July 26, 2015.
