14 Pews says
Do you know a high school student between grades 9 and 12 interested in documentary filmmaking? 14 Pews Film Academy is offering 3 separate summer film workshops, which are $300 each or we are offering free SCHOLARSHIPS to high school students on the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. 14 Pews Film Academy makes films on Houston artists, while teaching the art of filmmaking. This summer we will be teaching several one-week filmmaking workshops to teens. And we are ecstatic that the documentaries created in our school will have their World Premiere at the Houston Cinema Arts Festival in November 2017. For our summer documentary workshops we are highlighting Houston artists: contemporary artists Harvey Bott and Terrell James, and Houston’s legendary punk rock band the Mydolls.

Camp One is June 5 through June 9 from 9 AM to 2 PM.

If you’re interested in enrolling in our classes please do so at the designated links, and if you’re interested in applying for a scholarship, email and let us know your film interests and your film experiences, we will then send you a very short application. But please do so quickly, as there are a limited number of scholarships. The deadline to apply for scholarships is May 1, 2017.

Our students will collaborate on three documentaries, which will be screened in this years’ Houston Cinema Arts Festival in November 2017. Accepted students will have access to film equipment and after the classes are over, students can apply to intern at 14 Pews Film Academy to help with the editing of the documentaries.
