What language do dreams and symptoms speak? The Jungian therapeutic tradition has long championed the value of images for understanding our developmental paths. Dreams and symptoms are meta¬phors for the movements of our souls. But before we rush to translate dreams and symptoms into our convenient conceptual languages, we have to allow the images to fully emerge. In this workshop, we will briefly review key psychological theories of psychic metaphors before we use case examples to explore the approach devel¬oped by Dr. Himiob over thirty years of clinical practice and research.
Gonzalo Himiob, MD, is a Jungian analyst and chief of the Psychiatric Service and Cathedra of Psychiatry of the Luis Razetti School of Medicine at the Universidad Central de Venezuela.
