Help Welcome The Platypus To Houston! says
An idea that was, in seed at least, some ten years in the making has just come to fruition on Washington Avenue.

Two friends - some might even call them mates - from Australia met 15 years ago in Houston and spent many an hour watching rugby over a beer - or drinking a recovery beer after playing rugby.

Sean was relocated back to Queensland with work, and started plotting to open an American-style microbrew with heavy Australian influences in Australia, before fate and his wife's job brought him back to Houston.

And so, realizing he didn't want to try running a fledgling brewery from the other side of the world, he changed his business plan to read 'Houston brewery'... and Platypus Brewing was born.

Hiring Kerry Embertson from Lost Coast brewery in California, Platypus will try to bridge the Continental divide (and the Pacific Ocean!) by bringing American craft styles and the very young Australian craft styles together.

We're delighted to welcome these easy-drinking beers to our bar, and on Thursday November 17th we'll be featuring:

9-Banded American wheat ale
Troppo American wheat with Australian Mango and Passion Fruit
Ranga Red Ale
Box Kick IPA

The flights will, as always, start at 6pm, and as the brewery is so new we might just have all their staff on hand to talk, passionately, about both beer (and rugby!)
