Iskcon 50 Tx Gala says

On behalf of members of our community in Houston, we invite you as a special guest in a gala celebrating the 50th anniversary of ISKCON, the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, a nonprofit dedicated to education, public service, community activism and charitable work

The year 2016 is an important milestone in the history of our global Vaishnava Hindu tradition. Just 50 years ago, Srila Prabhupada, a 70-year old monk from India, founded ISKCON. He came to the west to share the ancient culture of devotion, or bhakti yoga with the world. From 1965, when he first arrived in America until he passed away in 1977 he travelled the world 14 times, wrote dozens of books, opened more than a hundred temples and rural eco-communities, and began a food relief program that today feeds 1.2 million children daily in India alone.

We will begin at 6:30 PM with a reception and hors d’oeuvres, followed by an elaborate vegetarian dinner, remarks by special guests like you, as well as performances of classical Indian dance and devotional music/kirtan.
