WARNING: The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema cannot accept responsibility for any asses kicked by the bone-crunching, dog-avenging, head-shotting double feature of JOHN WICK and JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2.

Every few years Keanu Reeves shows up and reinvents everything, and just as we get used to it, he comes back and reinvents it all again. When we had tired of saying “Excellent!” in the wake of BILL & TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE he surfed and skydived his way into action infamy with POINT BREAK. When we had said our last “I am an Eff Bee Eye agent!” he turned the whole action genre on its head with THE MATRIX. And once we had gotten all of the “I know kung fu” out of our system, he showed up in his latest and most lethal form: JOHN WICK.

The first JOHN WICK exploded on screens with little warning. Nobody saw this bullet ballet about a hitman returning from retirement to avenge his dog coming, and it hit audiences between the eyes like one of John Wick’s perfectly placed slugs. A relentless and exhilarating slice of heightened pulp violence, JOHN WICK gave us the modern action classic we didn’t even know we needed.

Now he’s back in the sequel, JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2. Where the first film was a tight and muscular little story, CHAPTER 2 takes John Wick around the globe, butting bullets with Earth’s mightiest assassins. If you thought the body count was high the last time, you haven’t seen John Wick cross international borders yet. The latest entry in the saga of our favorite reluctant hitman promises to maim, murder and mutilate a good many thugs, killers and scoundrels from all over the world.

Just when you thought JOHN WICK couldn’t get any better, here comes JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2. And just when you couldn’t get any more excited about JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2, here is the neck-snapping double feature you desperately need.
