The first cancer to be cured... Acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children showed it could be done. Join Emil Freireich in finding out what are the obstacles to eliminating Cancer?

Jim Collins will cover two fascinating flatworms: free-living planarians and parasitic schistosomes. Planarians are a laboratory model for tissue regeneration and schistosomes infect over 200 million of the world's poorest people. I will highlight the similarities between these organisms and discuss how schistosomes likely co-opted the tricks of their planarian-like ancestors to evolve into one of the world’s most formidable (and devastating) parasites.

Join Drs. Emil Freireich ((Ruth Harriet Ainsworth Chair of Developmental Therapeutics, MD Anderson Cancer Center)) and Jim Collins (UT Southwestersn) as they discuss research on combatting Cancer and Parasites across the world.
