Join us on a panel discussion on Music and Technology, highlighting the theremin and the 1920s, led by Dorit Chrysler and Dr. Andrew Boyd.

Dr. Andrew Boyd: has held numerous research grants from agencies such as the National Science Foundation and the Federal Aviation Administration, has written several technical articles and book chapters, and was part of a 2003 Edelman finalist team for work with Texas Children's Hospital. He was elected an INFORMS Fellow in 2007. His new book is The Future of Pricing: How Airline Ticket Pricing Has Inspired a Revolution (New York: Palgrave-MacMillan, 2007).For the past twelve years Andrew Boyd has been a regular contributor to the Engines of Our Ingenuity, a nationally syndicated radio program produced by KUHF, part of Houston Public Media. Leon Theremin and the theremin were the topic of one of the radio episodes, and Boyd has personally taken an interest in the theremin since he was a child. His credentials include an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College with degrees in mathematics and economics (and studies in music), and a Ph.D. from MIT in operations research.


Dorit Chrysler: received her Masters in Musicology from Vienna University. She is an Austrian electronic musician, recording engineer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose primary instrument is the theremin. Chrysler has collaborated with Dinosaur Jr., Marilyn Manson, Mercury Rev and Gordon Raphael of The Strokes, Electro Indigo, and Blonde Redhead. She has played at the Konzerthaus in Vienna and CBGB.
