The event creator says
New Tribe, a show featuring the newest works by Houston artist and educator Lee Carrier, will be open to the public for an opening reception at the Esperson Gallery at Greenstreet on Saturday, April 11th, 5:30-8:30PM.

New Tribe is the reflection of Carrier’s research of tribal women around the globe. Inspired by the beauty, strength and concepts of womenhood displayed in cultural differences, Carrier began to reimagine the modern women with a tribal influence. Carrier combines different aspects from different cultures to assemble a new “modern tribe” of women.

Carrier’s realistic drawing techniques on brown paper bags, along with her choice in mixed media materials, help convey what is unique and beautiful about a culture and its women.

The reception will also feature the premiere of the first part of Intertwined, a six-part documentary by Neiman Catley, starring Lee Carrier.

Viewing of Part 1 premiere of Intertwined will start at 7:30pm.

Intertwined showcases the work and creative process of Lee Carrier and other Houston artists and how they are intertwined.

Flash Gordon Parks and Sly Foxx will also provide entertainment.

Deep Eddy Vodka will be sponsoring the show.

The event is open to the public.
