One Houston Issues Assembly says
ONE Houston is a collective of educators, students, parents, and community members that organize around issues in Houston's education system. We've hosted over 60 house meetings across the greater Houston area to determine the educational equity issues most prevalent and pervasive to the Houston community. This process led us to host an Issue Assembly in May 2015 that determined our priorities over the past two years. Since then, we've accomplished a lot:
- We helped pass the PreK-2nd grade suspension ban in HISD!
- We decreased the Camelot Education contract to run Beechnut Academy by $3 million, and successfully advocated for $1 million of that to be re-allocated for social and emotional support for students!
- We're publishing a white paper with recommendations to close Beechnut Academy.

Now, it's time to recallibrate and host another Issue Assembly! We need YOUR VOICE to be heard in this process!

On February 16, you, your friends, colleagues, teachers, students, parents and community leaders are invited to come together for an Issues Assembly to vote on the TOP 3 priorities in educational equity for us to work on as a community. It’s the first step in the journey to solving some of Houston’s most pressing education problems through collective action.

Imagine a room packed full of people who care about education, voting for the issues most widely and deeply felt across the city. We will emerge from this Issue Assembly as a stronger collective committed to working together, with three action teams assembled to move forward on concrete strategies for 2017.

Your perspective and leadership are crucial for the success of this movement!
