UH-Clear Lake Art Gallery says
This summer, the University of Houston-Clear Lake Art Gallery will host its second Houston Bay Area Juried Exhibition. On view will be a diverse selection of works by eight artists who live within a 30-mile radius from UHCL. The selected artists are: Paul Atwell, Scott Bruno, Helena Gijsbers van Wijk, Cynthia Giron, Douglas Hiser, Rebecca J. Hopp, Beth LeBlanc, and Ricardo Rivera. They were selected from a larger pool by exhibition juror Daniel Fuller, who is the curator of the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center.

Fuller will award cash prizes for first-, second- and third-place award winners during an opening reception on Thursday, June 2, 5-7 p.m. in the gallery. Admission is free, and complimentary parking is available in Visitor Lot or Student Lot D during the preview. Refreshments and light bites served, along with tastings provided by reception sponsor Saint Arnold Brewing Company.

For the artists in the show, this exhibition affords them the opportunity to present their talents in a highly professional and academic setting. For UHCL, the presentation of works reinforces the university’s position as the hub of the visual arts in the Clear Lake area.

The 2016 Houston Bay Area Juried Exhibition is on view June 3 – Aug. 11.
