The event creator says
Need to get rid of an old phone? Would you feel better knowing that someone made something amazing out of it instead of just throwing it in the trash or giving to a recycling program that does who knows what with it? Now you can be at peace knowing that what you no longer need can be used for something to help save the rainforest!
There is an engineer making solar powered alert systems out of old smart phones that will detect chainsaw noises in the rainforest to alert guards of illegal logging. I saw this TED talk the other day and decided to take the initiative that I know most people wouldn't if I just shared the address with everyone - so I'm setting a date for you to bring me you and your family's/friend's old smart phones and it will be as easy as hanging out at the park.
I will be at the park for most of the day with a box (or a few) for collecting phones and chargers. Come hang out and SAVE THE RAINFOREST!
