RESxRice Bikes Sustainability week is to encourage sustainability at Rice- especially to encourage Rice students and faculty to commute by bicycle instead of taking a car by providing incentives to bike and reducing the barriers to bike commutes.

Schedule of Events:

Ice Cream Crawl- Saturday April 8
Biking ice cream crawl leaving from Rice Bikes at 2pm to kick off the week- $5/person. Capped at 20 participants. 2 routes for samples of ice cream at 5 different ice cream shops starting and ending at Rice Bikes.

Farmer’s Market- Tuesday April 11:
Bike to the farmers market and stop by the Rice Bikes tent with your bike for a token for $1 off anywhere at the farmers market.

Bike Plan Lunch Talk- Wednesday April 12:
Lunch talk with Mary Blitzer from Bike Houston at 12:15pm in the Miner Lounge about the recently approved Houston Bike Plan and how it will affect Rice specificially.

Bike Safety Class- Thursday April 13:
Free clinic taught by Madeleine Pelzel and Mary Natoli about rules for safe commuting 1:30pm at the Rec Classroom 160A.

Bike to Class Day- Friday April 14:
Free showers and free breakfast at the recreation center for biking to campus.

Participation Merch-Throughout the Week
Shirts or stickers saying “burn fat not fuel” or “burn carbohydrates not hydrocarbons.” While supplies last.

Post a picture on facebook or instagram with the hashtag #ricebikessustainability to enter for a chance to win 1 of (4) B-Cycle annual memberships, a giftcard to 4.0 Taco, and prizes from the farmer's market!
