FotoFest International says
FotoFest presents an important exhibition addressing the global refugee crisis.

FotoFest presents The Annenberg Space for Photography’s REFUGEE, May 11 – July 15, 2017 at Silver Street Studios, 2000 Edwards Street, Houston, TX 77007. It is the first presentation of the exhibition in the Southwest, and coincides with World Refugee Day, Tuesday, June 20, 2017.

FotoFest galleries are free and open to the public Wednesday - Saturday, 11am - 5pm, through July 15, 2017.

REFUGEE reflects the humanity at the heart of the crisis. Every day, tens of thousands of people across the globe flee their homes, uprooting their lives, to escape violence or persecution. It is most often a final act of desperation.

The numbers are staggering. One in every 122 people on Earth is a refugee. Globally, the total forcibly displaced from their home exceeds 65 million – the highest number ever recorded. Over half are children. It is a crisis that cannot be ignored.

Featuring five internationally acclaimed photographers especially commissioned to document the full range of the refugee experience :
Lynsey Addario
Omar Victor Diop
Graciela Iturbide
Martin Schoeller
Tom Stoddart

The photographers were supported by the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency

REFUGEE is curated by:
Patricia Lanza, Director of Talent & Content, The Annenberg Space for Photography
and Elisabeth Biondi, former Visual Editor of the New Yorker

The Exhibition is toured by Prodigy Exhibitions, Los Angeles, California
