Sensory Friendly Event says
Join us for our first-ever Sensory Friendly Event on September 17th! The Museum will open early at 8am with modified lighting and reduced sound to create a more comfortable and welcoming environment for visitors with sensory sensitivities. Lights and sounds will remain modified until 10am when exhibits will return to their standard settings.

The Cockrell Butterfly Center and special exhibitions will also be open with adjusted lighting and sound for visitors to enjoy. We’ll offer special screenings in the Burke Baker Planetarium and Wortham Giant Screen Theatre where movies will be presented in 2D (no 3D glasses required), the house lights will remain on and all movie volumes will be reduced.

Use our accessibility resources to prepare for your visit to HMNS. Bring them with you or check-out a copy at Museum Services when you arrive!

Tickets for the Sensory Friendly Event are the same pricing as regular operating hours. Members receive free admission to the permanent exhibit halls and discounted admission to special venues. Visit for more information on a membership for you and your family! We hope to see you there!
