Miller Outdoor Theatre says
FREE, as always! Seating rules:

Seun Kuti is the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. Born with the same booming voice as his father, Seun has developed his own signature wild, dynamic rhythm, drawing additional inspiration from Chuck D, Dr. Dre, and Eminem. A budding saxophonist, pianist, and percussionist, Seun first appeared on stage at nine as an opening act for his father’s group, Egypt 80, and was playing alongside the band before he turned 12. When Fela died in 1997, Egypt 80's reins passed to Seun — he has led the passionate, searing group ever since.

For Seun, taking up where his father left off is about building on Fela’s legacy — not trying to escape it, citing, "he was a very great man. But of course every artist wants to define himself."

The new lineup's first album, Seun Kuti + Fela's Egypt 80, was released in 2008, and a follow up, From Africa With Fury: Rise, dropped in 2011. In 2014, Seun Kuti released A Long Way to the Beginning, a critically acclaimed album produced by Houston's own Robert Glasper.

This is a ticketed event for the covered seating area. Free tickets are available (4 per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between the hours of 10:30am-1pm. If tickets remain at 1pm, the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets. As always, open seating on the hill.
