Squirrel Nut Zippers And Shinyribs says
Fans and critics alike have always have always had difficulty pigeonholing Squirrel Nut Zippers’s unique sound. Some have called it a perpetually confused stew of Southern Roots and Surrealist paintings. One critic aptly tagged them as “30s punk”. However, NPR Morning Edition might have said it best when they said: “It’s not easy to categorize the music of the Squirrel Nut Zippers, except that it’s hot.”

In honor of the 20th Anniversary of Squirrel Nut Zippers most celebrated and commercially successful album Hot, the bands visionary creator Jimbo Mathus, along with founding member and partner Chris Phillips (Drums), have crafted a brand new stage show including singer Ingrid Lucia of Flying Neutrino’s fame. Several leading musicians from New Orleans have also been enlisted to serve up the bands unique musical flavor which owes its roots to that city.

“We take great pleasure in the sense of togetherness we maintain with audiences that have such a wide age range - from young to old and those in between. Even the old are young at heart when they are at a Squirrel Nut Zippers show….” remarks Phillips.

Whether on his 6 string Uke or his Electric Guitar or singing acappella, Shinyribs’s Kevin Russell will entertain you like no one else. His original songs laced with magical-realism, along with novel interpretations of popular songs old and new (George Jones, TLC (band), Lead Belly, T-Pain), are the true art that runs throughout. A Shinyribs show is an exaltation of spirit; it’s a hip shaking, belly laughing, soul-singing, song-slinging, down-home house party. All styles of American music are likely to be touched on, squeezed on, and kissed on by this world-class band featuring Winfield Cheek on Keyboards, Keith Langford on Drums, Jeff Brown on Bass and the Tijuana Train Wreck Horns. Truly something not to be missed, Shinyribs is a unique musical experience and an original expression of our colorful musical heritage.
