How well do you know your audience? Are you reaching the people you want to reach? How do you know?

Houston Endowment, Houston Arts Alliance and DataArts (formerly the Cultural Data Project) invite cultural nonprofits to participate in an innovative program offering data on the participants, patrons and beneficiaries of Greater Houston’s cultural organizations. Participants will gain reliable information to better identify trends and reflect on opportunities for either expanded or deepened impact.

Working with a broad coalition of stakeholders, DataArts has developed approaches to both collecting and reporting statistically reliable data on audience and cultural nonprofit workforce demographics. With support from Houston Endowment, Greater Houston will be the first community to pilot their new model and benefit from standardized, reliable demographic data on audiences as well as their leadership, workforce and creative talent.

During this introductory program, DataArts staff will discuss the evolving needs of the nonprofit cultural sector and how DataArts transformed—both the Cultural Data Profile and organization’s core activities—to meet those needs. Attendees will be invited to complete a DataArts workforce demographic survey and hear from two local organizations that have participated in early testing of the audience demographic data collection protocol.
