- The Wheel Workers, Funeral Horse

Houston-based indie rock act, The Wheel Workers follows up its 2014 nomination as "Best Pop Act" at the Houston Press Music Awards with a total of eight nominations in 2015 including "Best Local Recording" for its current album CITIZENS, as well as "Best Live Act." Bandleader Steven Higginbotham has also been nominated as "Local Musician of The Year" and "Best Songwriter," an especially noteworthy accomplishment for an indie band.

The Wheel Workers have played regularly around Texas, performing at SXSW in Austin, enjoying the honor of playing on the same stage as The Flaming Lips at Free Press Summerfest in Houston, and opening for national touring acts such as Miniature Tigers, Elf Power, The Coathangers and Thao & The Get Down Stay Down.

The band is currently promoting its third full-length album, CITIZENS, recorded at SugarHill Studios with producer Dan Workman. Played locally on 94.5 FM "the Buzz," 90.1 KPFT, and recently featured on Houston Public Media's "Houston Matters" on 88.7 KUHF, the album also received widespread airplay across the United States on over 200 stations as well as numerous stellar reviews. Recently, Free Press Houston wrote that "The Wheel Workers' CITIZENS was a "true masterpiece."
