30 Best Bars India 2026: Mumbai leads masterlist; the countdown's on

The countdown to India's most-watched bar ranking has entered its next phase. The 30 Best Bars India 2026 Masterlist has just dropped, naming 245 bars from across the country that are now in contention for a spot on the final Top 100, and, ultimately, the coveted 30 Best Bars India list itself. No matter what you like in a drink, this is our country's top bartending talent right here.

The Masterlist is built from a mix of open nominations and expert curation: 175 bars put themselves forward through self-nomination, while a further 70 were handpicked by the Masterlist Jury. Together, they form the long list that a 125-plus-member jury will now vote on to whittle down to the Top 100, due to be revealed soon.

Mumbai seems to be leading

City-wise, the numbers tell a familiar story of where India's bar culture is concentrated. Mumbai tops the table comfortably with 57 entries, followed by New Delhi with 37 and Goa close behind at 36. Bangalore rounds out the leading pack with 32 bars, while Kolkata (14), Pune (13) and Gurgaon (12) make up a solid second tier. 

Smaller but notable showings came in from cities including Jaipur, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Kochi, Mysore, Amritsar, Indore, Dehradun, Chennai, Guwahati, Shillong and more: a sign that the scene's centre of gravity is spreading beyond the usual metropolitan cities.

What kinds of bars made the cut?

Restaurant bars dominate the Masterlist by category, accounting for 87 entries, well ahead of independent bars (42) and hotel bars (38). Microbreweries and taprooms bring up the rear with 10 nods. (It’s a category that continues to punch far below its footprint despite the craft beer boom of the last few years, honestly.)

Some names to watch

The 245-strong list spans neighbourhood favourites and big-ticket destination bars alike. Mumbai includes the likes of La Panthera, Sixteen33, Slink & Bardot, Native Bombay, O Pedro and Scarlett House (with both its Bandra and Juhu outposts making the cut), alongside newer names such as Otra and Mizu. Delhi's entries range from AaBBCc, Lair (both its Gurgaon and New Delhi addresses), and Barbet & Pals to Kamei and Kimikai to Indian Accent, Whisky Samba and Fort City Brewing. The list's also got other Time Out Delhi favourites like Refuge, Sidecar, The Library Bar, Together, Japonico and INJA.

Goa's list runs from For The Record to Purple Martini and Pisco by the Beach. Bengaluru leans heavily on the city's craft and cocktail-forward spots, including Bar Spirit Forward, Byg Brewski Brewing Company and Copitas at the Four Seasons, but you've also got classics like Bob's Bar and Dali & Gala. Hyderabad gem Bar Kin-Ru also makes the list.

What's next?

The full Top 100 ranking is expected to be announced shortly, based on a poll conducted among the Masterlist's jury panel. Until then, the 245-bar longlist is quite the snapshot of India's bar and cocktail culture is headed into 2026.
