The Design Museum Holon is an architectural masterpiece, designed by Israeli born architect Ron Arad. The iconic building boasts a curved ribbon façade of Corten weathering steel, forming a blend of textural, spatial, and optical experiences that seamlessly merge between architecture, design and art. But, beyond its architecture and collections, the museum aims to curate a complete experiential journey. Not only do they curate exhibitions, but meticulously design them from scratch, weaving together a cohesive narrative that leaves visitors with a lasting impression. Food
The Food exhibition (opened on May 2023) examines the basic yet tangled relations between humans and food, as well as the complex status of design in this equation. The exhibition, which closes in November 2023, reveals various natural and artificial strategies of seduction while offering contemporary narratives about humans and the food that they eat. The exhibition showcases over 200 works by acclaimed designers and artists such as Wim Delvoye, Bompas and Parr, Naoto Fukasawa, Ron Arad, and FormaFantasma among others.
Upcoming exhibition: Gender from a design standpoint
Design has long played a powerful role in shaping the gender social order, dictating appearances, behaviors, and reinforcing biases. The exhibition, starting January 2024, breaks new ground by highlighting designers as influential social agents. It goes beyond traditional gender norms, embracing fluid identities and exploring contemporary issues intersecting with gender. With over 120 projects from diverse design professions, the exhibit aims to celebrate the spectrum of gender and raise questions about the separation of gender and the physical body.
