Time Out says

The Swiss ballet returns to Israel with a modern interpretation of Carmen.

By focusing on violence and passion, Johan Inger hopes to bring out the archetypes and undertones of youth and innocence. Combined with Bizet and Marc Alvarez's original music, Inger's choreography aims to reunite the youthful loves with sexy gypsy spells. Carmen is a performance originally created by Roland Petit and his company, Les Ballets de Paris, which has since become a classic in the world of dance. Basel aims to freshen up the 1949 original to fit into the world of the 21st Century
