Lishmor Alayikh (Watching Over You)
In the attic of Ukrainian farmers, two Jewish teenage sisters pass two years in hiding creating games to help them cope with the war’s reality. They make up fantasies of falling in love with the boy they met in the ghetto and making aliyah while trying to suppress their fear that their mother might never come back for them. Gur Koren, the playwright, brings his family’s miraculous story to life, filling the audience with dark pain and gloom, but also humor and optimism. A discussion with the artists will follow the performance.
