This year, the city is screaming ice cream in new ways. From liquid nitrogen ice cream to Korean flavors, it’s all new and exciting.

Korean Ice cream at So Bing

This is one of the most talked about treats in town, Bingsu or Patbingsu is a Korean treat  composed of coconut-laced shaved ice, chunks of fruit, over-the-top toppings, and a scoop of high-quality ice cream. Like many Korean desserts, the ice cream is not sickly sweet, making it more fun to eat. The crazy toppings include choices like bamba, brownies chunks, Oreos, watermelon cubes and many more – but to really taste the authentic flavor, opt for the green tea matcha version.

Fruit Loops on Fire and Sno-Cones at Carmel Market

Next time you make your way through the market, look for the liquid nitrogen treat, on your left, right past the corner of where the food begins.   Yes, dragon breath has hit the local scene. It’s a fruit loops kind of a treat merged with liquid nitrogen and when you take a bite it dissolves in your mouth and spits fire out.  It’s a kick for your senses! Not a fan of flammable treats? Get yourself a humongous rainbow sno-cone, shaved ice molded into a huge ball and then covered with sweet syrup.

Frozen Custard at Captain

Are you missing the Shake Shack? The Israeli version is finally here, and you’ll find this burger spot on the corner of Even Gvirol right near Kikar Rabin. Burgers, fries, the works, and frozen custard. This smooth-custardy treat is the answer to the summer heat – but wait; they have Concretes, the blended cake in the ice cream with two flavors, crack pie and blueberry pie. American comfort food is here! There are several locations in Israel so look on the website.

Get Drunk on Slushies at Caribbean Icy

Getting drunk at the beach is not a difficult feat, but with a new slushie bar on Bograshov (close to Allenby), it’s even easier! This tiny spot serves up slushies spiked with alcohol for when you are on the go. Have a strawberry Daiquiri, the popular Hurricane, or mix and match several flavors. Each cup you sip has a full shot of alcohol.
