Cool down before the heat ahead with COS' S/S 2018 Collection

Taking into account the harsh conditions of the Israeli summer (super high and scorching temperatures, full-body drench worthy humidity, sweat and nerves), it is quite clear that the picture-perfect vision behind COS' 2018 spring/summer collection was anywhere but here. The sophisticated layers of delicate, thoughtfully-curated volume and the muted, complementary colors all seem to tell a story of a holiday in a calm and elegant Scandinavian spa.

The escapist alternative that all this elegance can provide the harsh Tel Aviv reality makes viewers want to dive straight into the depths of the collection and dabble in the cool textures, which include three main color divisions: a group of earth colors, a variety of greens and blues, and a sub-color combination of white and cream. The wide range of cuts, pants, tops, dresses, and skirts allows for mixing and matching as much as one's sartorial imagination allows - and is also, seemingly, not gender-specific.

According to the brand, the inspiration for the collection was largely inspired by architecture, or rather by monumental structures such as the Zaha Hadid-designed Messner Mountain Museen in the Dolomites of northern Italy, and the Design Museum by John Pawson in London. At the same time, they say that another major source of inspiration was paper, especially its lightness and the possibility of creating a three-dimensional object out of it. The last theme is expressed, among other things, in the asymmetrical features of the midi-pleated skirt, in a masculine gown that appears on top of the upper body in two-dimensional intrigue, and in the fold of an A-shaped dress that looks like it is borrowed from the wondrous world of origami.

A key item in the collection is a camel-colored top filled with pockets that can be worn both as a light trench coat, and as a spring maxi dress, which may give it a star status in any respectable wardrobe, but in our regions it can not be worn after May. Another indisputable hit worth mentioning is a thick cotton knit Bermuda pants with elastics in the waist and the pockets, which comes in a feminine and masculine version. These pants are useful, cool, and fit, with slight changes of accessories and shoes for all hours of the day.

Alongside these, enjoy a number of geeky-chic accessories, including monotone sneakers, bucket hats, plain backpacks crafted from thick cotton, and a black 50's style swimsuit that comes as a bikini or one-piece version. Items we did not fall in love with were the clutch purse accented with metal handles and other random accessories with shiny finishes (thank us for the warning in August), and the knitted leggings that are hard to imagine flattering anyone.
