Your community is dynamic, filled with intriguing projects and people with unique talents, passions, and accomplishments. But how many people with fascinating insights lack a platform to share them? And as for the few specifically qualified individuals whose knowledge happens to be relevant to a local conference or talk, how many different never-ending evenings of presentations can you actually commit to?

In Tokyo, 2003, architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham devised a platform to invite creatives and intellectuals of all kinds to come learn from each other in a colorful, fun, and time-sensitive manner. Anyone can sign up to present any type of subject matter, never surpassing six minutes and 40 seconds, each following the PechaKucha 20x20 format: showing 20 images, each for 20 seconds, automatically advancing as the presenter speaks. The vibrant and brief format ensures stimulating presentations from 10 diverse inspiring individuals in one short evening.

The only thing more rewarding than getting to share something you love is listening to others filled with enthusiasm to share theirs. PechaKucha provides anyone with a creative idea, interest, experience, or achievement, a space to share their pride. Furthermore, anyone can present anything: philosophers, technicians, musicians, freelancers, scientists, minimum wage workers, and business engineers describe their obscure hobbies, introspective journeys, craziest adventures, unique cultural traditions, nostalgic memories, and intriguing projects.

Astrid’s five-year-old daughter presented her artwork, Mark’s 69-year-old mother presented her elaborate wedding cake creations, volunteers told heartwarming stories, college grads explained their first projects, and retires presented wild stories from the past. Personal, humorous, tragic, or empowering, the only thing they all have to have in common is their 20x20 format and a desire to uncover the unexpected.
