The Suzanne Dellal Center hosts the Taiwanese B. Dance Company and their otherworldly creation Floating Flowers

Tel Aviv’s Suzanne Dellal Center brings B.da nce to IS rael this month with their ethereal piece floating flowers, but don’t expect it to be all grace and harmony. Choreographed by the troupe’s director, Po-Cheng Tsai, the show is at once theatrical, physical, and emotional, with bouts of unexpected humor.

Po-Cheng Tsai is one of the most interesting voices currently on the international dance scene, and has been declared ‘most promising choreographer in 2018’ by the prestigious German magazine Tanz, Europe’s biggest and most respected ballet and dance publication.

Born in 1987, Tsai founded the dance troupe in 2014, shortly after graduating from the National University of the Arts in Taipei in 2009. He won interest and attention because of his curious aesthetics and movement language - attributed to his personal and distinct choreography. Since its inception, B.DANCE has won raves in China and around the world.

The show Floating Flower was inspired by the Ghost Festival, one of the most beautiful and popular Buddhist ceremonies in Taiwan. During the festival, floating lanterns are used to worship deities, keep away bad luck, and bring happiness. Wrapped in vaporous muslins, the dancers appear to waft gracefully above water, combining skilled movements of martial arts with contemporary dance.

April 14-15 at 21:00, all performances at the Suzanne Dellal. Ticket prices NIS 285-215
