Jaffa's outdoor cinema screenings will continue throughout August with films focused on musical legends

Every week on Wednesday evenings there will be an open screening of a film in Jaffa's summit garden opposite the magnificent view of the beaches of Tel Aviv
 
This August, iconic movies about successful musicians will be screened including "Control" about the legendary band Joy Division, "All Eyez on Me" about the life of Tupac, "This Must Be the Place" with Sean Penn, and "Straight Outta Compton" about the rise and fall of the gangsta rap group N.W.A
  

Wednesday, August 1st - "All Eyez on Me"(2017)

This is the story of the famous rapper Tupac, from the beginning of his career in New York, to becoming one of the most familiar and influential voices in the rap music world until his untimely death at the age of 25. The biography explores the effects of his childhood and youth on his career, and his beliefs.
 

Wednesday, August 8th - "Control" (2007)

This film chronicles the life and death of Ian Curtis, the troubled lead singer of the legendary band Joy Division. The praised music video director, Anton Corbijn, relies on the autobiography of Curtis's wife, Debbie, to tell his story. The film was shot in color and transformed into black and white, and describes the success of the band alongside the personal life of Curtis - which ended in a tragic suicide.
 
Wednesday, August 15th - "Straight Outta Compton" (2015)
 
A biographical drama that tells the real story of the gangsta rap group N.W.A, one of the first and most influential hip-hop groups of all time (among their famous songs is the provocative anthem "Fuck Tha Police"). The group, who grew up on the rough streets of Compton, California, in the mid-1980's, was founded by five young rappers who later became superstars of the music world: Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, DJ Yella, and MC Ren - who all wanted to express and shout the voice of an entire generation, and actually ended up changing the face of music. 
 

Wednesday, August22.8 "This Must Be the Place" (2011)

Sean Penn in one of his most bizarre roles of his career. Cheyenne (the look of the character was inspired by Robert Smith of The Cure) is an aging, gentle, and wealthy former rock star who discovers that his father is about to die. After years of alienation between the father and his son, he decides to pay a visit to his dying father. Only when he arrives in America does he learn the whole story about his father - a survivor of Auschwitz who suffered humiliation at the hands of an SS officer.
