January 1st will mark exactly two centuries since the gothic classic, Frankenstein, came to life. Mary Shelley's book was so ahead of its time that it continues to be relevant to this very day, inspiring literary critics, philosophers, and even artists to expand their imaginative horizons.

One such artist is contemporary creator and thinker, Maya Attoun, who put together a hybrid tribute to Frankenstein in the form of a carefully crafted day-timer/art book/journal. 2018 invites the public into its 160 pages of hand drawn sketches bringing together the past, present, and future in its own unique non-linear way.

From anatomical etchings to autobiographical content to nods to climate change, Attoun draws each curious owner of 2018 into its endless stream of narratives – some pair together, some exist on different planes, some bounce between the two – and even add a layer of their own narratives on top.

This incredibly innovative project is well worth learning more about at this evening's festive book launch: December 28, 20:00 at the Givon Art Forum (3 Alroy St, Neve Tzedek). Afterwards, you will be able to purchase your own copy of 2018 on Maya's online store: www.2018ma.com.
