Beit Kandinof does brunch - and we love it

In what may be one of Jaffa's most inspiring and hidden gems, Beit Kandinof is a tucked away artist enclave serving up delicious food, drinks, and a burgeoning art community including exhibits, events, and an overall atmosphere that people just want to be a part of. Housed in what used to be chef Nir Tzuk's charming Noa Bistro (and what used to share a kitchen with the gorgeously gothic-inspired Cordelia restaurant), Beit Kandinof now holds court over the quaint alleyway sandwiched between Jaffa's iconic Flea Market and its Old City.

The 19 century stone house, whose foundation is built from the remains of a historic street still encompass its glowing street lamps which dot the renovated walls and the open-air ceiling is lined with hanging greenery, painted murals, and artist’s installations. Vintage wrought iron bistro tables and chairs fill the corridor and alternative, melodic music flows from the rustic space.

From its inception, Beit Kandnof served as a nightlife venue with a menu of dinner and drinks - including cocktails reminiscent of the space's bucolic surroundings, like the Herb Garden, a mix of vodka, St Germain, sage, rosemary and lime.

The chefs Yogev Yaros and Shami Golomb have now ventured into the breakfast and brunch arena, serving a range of thoughtfully-crafted dishes punctuated with rare combinations, like the seafood shakshuka filled with tempura shrimps and calamari, mussels and eggs all bubbling in a thick tomato soup. Or the fluffy and filling burekas with sumac & cured lemon. The main courses are complemented by a smattering of colorful salads including hameiri cheese, olives and herring, ikra and baba ghanoush plus hot and cold drinks.

Make a rezzie - the space fill up fast and for good reason.
