Boutique hotels in central Tel Aviv are opening new classy joints for mornings of artisanal coffee, chill hang-out afternoons, and sexy bar scene evenings. And accompanying the quality drinking vibes, we have high expectations for the menus, with chef Avivit Priel (from Ouzeria) taking charge of the food.

The cooperation between the Imperial Group and the Atlas Hotel chain is producing this series of café/bars. The owners of the group, Bar Shira, Dror Alterovich, and Gilad and David Livnat, explain that their concept was inspired by Brooklyn and Athens – "from Brooklyn we took the attitude toward coffee and from Athens the character. Most of the bars there are like that, much more chill in the mornings with a slightly cooler atmosphere than a coffee shop or Starbucks. In the evenings, the crowd groes and it turns into more of a bar with a DJ playing loud music."

Coffee is a new field for the Imperial Group, which hosts a number of successful Tel Aviv cocktail bars including the Imperial Cocktail Bar, La Otra, and Motel. But Shira explains that coffee will be their next big success: "Coffee is not in our DNA, but it's a natural development; we're connected to liquids." He promises that the quality that accompanies the cocktails will continue at all stages of the coffee, from the raw material to the final product. "We are going to specialize in coffee just as we specialize in cocktails and alcohol, giving them all the appropriate attention and professionalism."

Breakfast will be served for the hotel guests as well as outside customers, and the mix of patrons is encouraged throughout the day as the venues shift to a hangout spot and a sexy bar. The open atmosphere reflects Atlas’ quest for an inclusive experience, not just an accomodation. "I have a feeling that Bushwick will bring something that's missing in the landscape, a cool place where you can sit all day," adds Shira. "I do not think there are many places like this in Tel Aviv that work hard by day and harder by night."
